Good Townes Van Zandt Covers Mixtape
Found this after seeing that Devendra Banhart did a cover of Colorado Girl. I listened to it one time through and all the songs are enjoyable to listen to. Some didn’t seem to do much for me, while others really stood out right away - particularly Son Volt’s “Rex’s Blues,” Foreign Born’s “Waiting Around To Die,” and Steve Earle’s “Ft. Worth Blues.” Also, they didn’t include a Norah Jones cover because it didn’t “cut it” which makes me trust them more.
When you awake, the blog I found it on, seems really great, too.
Here’s the songs:
1. Emmylou Harris and Steve Earle- If I Needed You
2. Gillian Welch- Pancho and Lefty
3. Devendra Banhart- Colorado Girl
4. Son Volt- Rex’s Blues
5. Azure Ray- For The Sake of the Song
6. Foreign Born- Waiting Around To Die
7. Peter Roman and Nanci Griffith- No Lonesome Tune
8. Nanci Griffith- Tecumseh Valley
9. Steve Earle- Fort Worth Blues
10. Vetiver- Standin’
11. Guy Clark- Don’t You Take It Too Bad
12. Steve Young- No Place To Fall
